2.Personal Journal and Reflection
Week 1
This week marked the beginning of the course, filled with new experiences and anticipation. We learned about the course structure and objectives, which will cover nine topics related to professional practice over the next nine weeks. The five of us quickly formed the Emerald Team, and I took on the role of researcher. During the group discussions, I realized the importance of continuous learning and adaptability in the ever-changing employment environment.
Week 2
The job workshop was the focus of this week. Through learning about job application letters and interview skills, I understood that details and personalization are key to success in job hunting. In our group discussions, we shared our experiences and insights. I began to reassess my resume and application letter, thinking about how to better showcase my strengths and uniqueness.

Week 3
This week, our team EMERALD had a presentation. Our goal was to convey information about professional conduct in an informative and engaging way. Using the format of a soap opera, we depicted various professional behavior norms through relatable scenarios, making the content vivid and easy to understand. Preparation was key to our success. We rehearsed multiple times, refining the script and practicing our lines to ensure a confident and smooth performance. This collaboration not only deepened our understanding of the topic but also enhanced our teamwork abilities.

Week 4
I learned a lot through the well-prepared activities of other groups, the games and interactive activities particularly helped me understand the operations in the landscape design industry better. The Hong Kong 2030+ strategic plan made me realize the importance of foresight and planning in large-scale projects.
Week 5
I learned how to successfully win a project, from expressing interest to signing the contract. This improved my project management skills and taught me the importance of flexibility and strategy adjustment in my career.
Week 6
The focus this week was on local case studies, particularly the development process of a large project. Analyzing this project helped me understand the complexity and long-term nature of landscape design projects.
Week 7
This week, we attended the Green Card safety course, learning about occupational hazards, prevention methods, and how to properly wear safety equipment. This knowledge is crucial for future work on construction sites. The training made me realize the importance of safety awareness in my career and how to apply this knowledge to ensure my safety and that of my colleagues.

Week 8
The alumni sharing session this week was very beneficial. It made me think about how to align my career development with my interests and market demands to continuously enhance my core competitiveness.
Week 9
Office visit was a rare opportunity. Through alumni Yvonne Chan’s sharing, I better understood the operations and work environment of a landscape design company. Discussing problem-solving methods in different scenarios was also very beneficial. I began to realize the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience in my career.


Week 10
The Zoom meeting this week provided insights into the working environment of the landscape design industry in mainland China. Communicating with professionals working there gave me more understanding and preparation for this rapidly developing market.
Week 11
This week, the director of Urbis, Mr. Morkel, shared his industry insights. I learned a lot of practical knowledge from him. David's sharing taught me the importance of continuous learning and innovation in my career. I began to reflect on my future career path and how to find my unique position in the industry.
Week 12
Visiting the SENT landfill site was a very practical learning opportunity. This field trip gave me a more intuitive understanding of site operations and the importance of details and planning in project management.

Week 13
This week’s big test was a comprehensive assessment of our learning outcomes. Wilson’s detailed explanations made me realize the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical application.


Week 14 and reflection
This was the final class, where we reviewed and summarized everything we learned. I reflected on my growth and gains from this course. I am grateful for Wilson’s guidance and feel very fortunate to study in such an excellent group. Every group member was outstanding and helpful. I am now planning how to continue learning and innovating in my future career to achieve my professional goals. I am confident that these valuable experiences and friendships will accompany me in my future career, helping me grow and move forward continuously.
